From there, the drive to the Sheraton Hotel in Station Square is between 25 and 40 minutes, depending on traffic.

Driving to Pittsburgh

From the west, drivers will take interstate 376 toward the Fort Pitt Tunnels. Most directions will not have you go through the tunnels but rather exit before so you stay south of the city. However, the view of Pittsburgh upon exiting the Fort Pitt Tunnels is quite impressive if you have never seen it, so you still may wish to try that route.

From the east, drivers will take interstate 376 through the Squirrel Hill Tunnels. There is usually traffic at these tunnels, so you will want to allot extra time if this is your route. These directions will take you into the heart of the city and across the river to the Sheraton.

From the north, drivers can use interstate 279 or route 28 to go over the Fort Pitt Bridge. Route 28 is under construction and also often has heavy traffic, especially around rush hours, so be sure to leave extra time; there are many merging lanes on the Fort Pitt Bridge, so please use caution, especially if you are unfamiliar with this route.

From the south, drivers have several route options (e.g., route 19) since there is no one major highway entering the city from the South Hills. Attendees from the south also have the option of parking and riding the “T” discussed more below. There is a fee to ride the “T,” and some lots also require payment.

In Pittsburgh

Once at Station Square, many attractions are within walking distance. There is a pedestrian path on the Smithfield Bridge next to Station Square that leads to the downtown area. Most places in downtown can be accessed via walking in about 20 minutes. For those not interested in walking or should the weather not permit it, Uber and Lift are commonly used in the Pittsburgh area.

The “T” stop is Pittsburgh’s light rail or metro system. There is a “T” stop at Station Square, Hoping on any train from the “T” and heading towards the North Shore will take visitors into the downtown area and across the rivers to PNC Park, Acrisure Stadium (formerly Heinz Field), the Andy Warhol Museum, the Rivers Casino, and the Carnegie Science Center (see our food and fun page for details). There is a small fee to ride the “T” from Station Square; cash is accepted but exact change is needed. Those wanting to go into the South Hills would board the “T” heading in the opposite direction.

Click here for lodging and information about the Sheraton Hotel

Return to NCTPW 2023 Pittsburgh Homepage

Thank you to our TOP sponsors!
